Hi guys!
Well, my week didn't go at all how I'd planned. It started out pretty great, and then kinda went down the toilet immediately after. So Monday night was pretty great in that we started teaching two new
investigators! Their names are Jesse James Wood and Elijah Wood. It's not the actor Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins) but I still thought it was awesome that I'm teaching someone with that name. And his mom said that it was accidental. He wasn't actually named after the actor, they just named him that and afterwards realized what they'd done.
Oh, and since they've been going to church for few weeks already with their mom, we got them on date for November 26!
But anyway we started teaching them, so that was great. But then after that, everything just started canceling. All but a couple appointments cancelled. It was rough. But it wasn't the worst thing that happened all week. Wednesday night, I started feeling a little bit of soreness in my throat, and by 10:30 that night, it had gone from minor annoyance to excruciating and all I could focus on. I barely slept any that night because it was so bad. It was literally (not metaphorically, literally) one of the worst sore throats I've ever had, if not the worst one period (that I can remember). And I had a headache, chills, and basically my whole body hurt, and I just felt exhausted and terrible. It wasn't fun. At all. So we had to stay in basically all day, because on the one hand, I felt like I was dying, and on the other hand, even if I felt like I could still teach, I can't go infecting people with whatever I had. We're here to spread the gospel, not diseases. So we stayed in. Friday came. I was still miserable, though I didn't quite feel like I was dying anymore. But we had to stay in again. Saturday came, and guess what, I was still sick! So once again, we spent the majority of our day in our tiny little apartment. It was awful. I want to work. I want to show my greenie how to work. But I guess it wasn't in the cards. At least we didn't have to cancel any appointments...seeing as they all cancelled before.
Saturday evening I was really starting to a bit feel better, so we attempted a few visits, and I just made sure to not shake anyone's hand. And then my voice died. Not even just hoarse. I mean dead.
Kaput. Gone. I sounded like a whispering toad. And it lasted all through Sunday...which was just dandy because I had to speak in a sacrament meeting. So that was interesting standing at a pulpit and
sounding like a 120 year old frog for 12 minutes. It was a good talk, and everyone could understand me, but I definitely did not deliver it with the voice of a thousand angels. So it was a good thing I had
inspiration on the content because if it were up to my speaking skills, it wouldn't have been great.
And then Sunday evening we had a couple more lessons that thankfully didn't cancel (hallelujah!), and they went really well, despite my raspy voice.
And that's basically how my week was. Not the greatest. But it could have been worse. And at least the whole voice thing is kinda funny.
Well that's all for now. Have a great week!
