Insanity

May 25, 2015

Hi everybody!

This week has been crazy! Our lesson numbers have actually been terrible this week. We had only one lesson to a nonmember. Everything else either fell through, or were lessons to less actives and recent converts. We were also trying to juggle baptismal interviews and two baptisms.

Dylan and Jason got baptized! It was frustrating though because getting it set up was a total nightmare! For Dylan, everybody apparently thought everyone else was making the program, and the ward mission leader didn't even really know who Dylan was. The Spring City 1st Ward is great, so don't think I am dissing them. But it did seem like the entire ward simultaneously had a massive brain-fart! After some running around and what not, we got it worked out and everything went fine. So nothing too major there.  And I got to perform the baptism, so that was cool!

Jason's baptism was far more...interesting. We did not have a key to the church or the baptismal font that he was scheduled to be baptized in. Several people had the keys so we weren't worried. But that day, about three hours before the baptism was supposed to take place, the font was locked and everyone who had a font key, as well as everyone who might have had a font key, was conveniently out of town. The guy who was supposed to open it for us ended up not being able to do it, so we went on an hour and a half wild goose chase looking for someone who had a key. Finally, we found someone who might have had a key. Turns out he didn't, but he had some skill with kitchen utensils
apparently, and using two barbecue forks, he was a able to jimmy the lock on the font doors. Elder Vidinha then jumped into the font and went around and unlocked the doors. Problem One was solved. However, Problem One took so long to solve that it created Problem Two. This baptismal font takes about two and a have hours to fill, and after that round of shenanigans, we had only an hour and a half. Also, Jason is something like 6'5", so the font needed to be pretty full in order to dunk him. With 45 minutes left, the font was only about up to the first step in the font, so basically, we could baptize his ankle. Then a member who was cleaning some rooms in the building came by and after assessing the situation, volunteered his garden hose and we hooked it up to the faucet in the janitors closet and ran it into the font. With both faucets running, we were able to fill the font enough for the baptism to happen (though he still had to pretty much lay down!). Crazy, huh? Against all odds, he was baptized! And in church today, he was confirmed and after church he was ordained a Priest in the Aaronic
Priesthood. It's been a good couple days, but super crazy!

In other news, I taught a word of wisdom lesson to one of our investigators using a Spinosaurus tooth, and this upcoming week is looking awesome! It is looking like we will have at least two new
investigators, and we have a ton of potentials to try to contact, as well as the investigators we already have who we will be teaching this week. This week is also looking really good for less active and recent convert lessons (LA/RCs).

Well, that's all for this P-Day! Have a great week everybody!
