Hi everybody!
This week has been interesting. There was good stuff and frustrating stuff. The good: Our investigators are still doing well and we have three on date for baptism, two of them for the month of June. We found 4 new investigators too! One is an 11 year old kid in Fairview whose Mom was less active but is now becoming active. His name is Jaxton. He has a baptismal date set for June. The other three are a nonmember family we found in Indianola. We also have a potential investigator who we are working on with Brother Wheeler who will likely become an investigator soon.
Now for the frustrating stuff. Wyatt and Carter flaked out on us again. We set up the appointment literally the day before, and they still missed it. One of our investigators in Fairview keeled over in
the parking lot and is now in the hospital for an indefinite amount of time. Susan is being difficult to get a hold of again. And nobody wants to see us apparently. We spent hours this week going over
unbaptized children and part member family lists and knocking doors and it yielded only one potential who we will follow up with this week. The week was good, and it went fast, but there were some days that really seemed to drag on forever. I much prefer teaching to contacting. Especially now that the weather is warming up, it is not comfortable to be walking/driving around all day in the sun, wearing long pants, a dress shirt, and a tie (or a full suit on Sundays). But oh well. The work of the Lord goes on.
I heard some sad news on Sunday. Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles passed away on Friday. I'm shocked at how fast that was. In General Conference, he was just as spry as ever. Then on Friday, President and Sister Center (they were visiting the missionaries in Price and also paid us a visit) were talking about how he was just diagnosed with cancer and had become really sick. Then on Sunday I heard the news that he died on Saturday. That makes me really sad. He was super awesome, and he was always so energetic, I thought he'd live to be 103. Gosh. I don't even know what to say. It is just hard when an apostle dies. He was awesome, and I will really miss him.
I spoke again in church. That went really well, especially considering I just found out the day before that I was speaking and I found out my topic about five minutes before the meeting started. It actually went really well though.
It is insane how fast time has been going. This is the last week of my third transfer! I feel like the transfer just started! But nope. It's been almost a month and a half! As far as will I be transferred next
week, probably not. The General Authorities instructed President Center to keep missionaries in an area for 6-9 months. So I could be here a while yet. Which I am just fine with.
Well that's all for now. Have a great week everybody!
-Elder Oswald
