Through the Wringer

October 17, 2016

Hi guys!

Well, this has certainly been an interesting week. It's been a pretty good week for teaching. We taught the most nonmember lessons since I've been here, and we picked up a new investigator! And Layla and Mya are still solid for their baptism on October 22nd, so this Saturday. So that's been good. Elder Bright and I also took a little bit of time to go see some of the people we knew in Enoch West, and it was so good to see them again. We've also actually gotten a few referrals this week, so that's nice. And we had interviews with President Smith, and it was great to just be able to talk to him one on one. He's such an awesome guy.

But of course, there's always opposition. For one, there's this cranky ward mission leader in another stake who wants to basically stop our baptism because he thinks it should be his because Layla and Mya live part time in his stake and their record numbers (from when they were blessed as babies) are still in his ward, even though they spend most of their time in our stake, and this is where they go to church, and this where their dad wants them to go. And we've already talked to the mission president and got it all cleared, so I don't know what thisguy's whining about. But there's always that one guy who makes a fuss. It's not like he can do anything about it, and it's not like I haven't dealt with ornery for no apparent reason people before. It's frustrating, but it's whatever. Oh, and their family did get their records transferred into our stake yesterday, so that ward mission leader's got nothing.

However, there was some really upsetting news from this past week. My companion, Elder Reynolds is going home on Tuesday. Not really sure why. I guess there's just some things he needs to resolve at home. But it stinks! Because he's a really good companion and a really good missionary! I've been stressing about it for the last few days since I've found out. And I still don't know what's happening with me. I just know that I'm staying in Cedar West to run the area. There was another missionary who went home (he broke his foot again) who was serving up north and training, so I might get his greenie and finish training him, but President might want to keep him in Filmore English in a temporary trio with Filmore Spanish to keep that area going. So I might just stay with Cedar Spanish for two weeks and run Cedar West solo doing splits with members. President hasn't decided what he wants to do yet. I should find out tonight or tomorrow morning.

So yeah, that's been my week. Interesting, to say the least. And stressful. And sad. And it kinda stinks with the timing because the area seems to be picking up somewhat. I guess I just have to be put through the wringer again. Can't get too comfortable I suppose.

But I it is what it is. Hopefully everything will go smoothly this week. We actually have a pretty good week planned, and Layla and Mya are getting baptized, so that's exciting. If I can just focus on the
positive, it ought to be a pretty decent week. I hope it is.

Well, have a good week! Wish me luck!

Kidnapping Ted, Round 3. Yes, we edited the pictures to be black and white so it would look like an old school mobster/FBI adventure.
