Hi guys!
My
week was rather odd. It seemed simultaneously very productive and very
unproductive. We were quite busy, but we actually only taught about half
as much as we bowled for. There were lots of appointments falling
through. However, we still managed to meet a lot of people and really
get some work done, even if it was just setting up for this week. We
ought to pick up a few new investigators this week. We possibly have up
to 8 solid potentials! That's really good. Hopefully it all happens!
We
also had a lot of meetings that made it seem busier. On Wednesday we
had a Zone Conference in Beaver that lasted forever. It was 9:00-3:00,
so six hours, like most Zone Conferences, except this one just felt
extra long. It was really good, and we had a Seventy there (Elder
Ringwood), but it just seemed so long. It didn't help that it was in
Beaver, which is an hour drive from Cedar, which made the whole day seem
longer, and it also didn't help that I felt unusually tired that day.
On
Saturday we had another meeting, the adult session of Stake Conference.
There was a Seventy there too, Elder Schwitzer. It was a very good
meeting, and then the general session of Stake Conference was Sunday
morning, and it was also very good. Elder Schwitzer's messages were on
teaching and learning in the home/family, and the truthfulness of The
Book of Mormon. Both talks were enlightening as well as entertaining (he
can be really funny).
And
the cool thing is that I've seen Elder Schwitzer twice before, once at
the MTC, and then again when he visited our mission right before we got
iPads.
Anyway,
so we did quite a bit this past week, but in terms of teaching, we only
had a few actual lessons. Oh well. We tried our best, and it should be
better this week.
This
week is also going to be kinda crazy though. It's transfer week again.
We got our call on Sunday morning. Elder Plauche is going to Cedar
Spanish (called it!) and I'm going to be training! That's pretty
exciting! So yeah, I'll be training for my last three months it looks
like. It's weird. I'm now where my trainer, Elder Falconbury, was when
he got me. Which is both kinda cool, and kinda terrifying. These last
three months may echo my first three months quite a bit, except I'm the
old trainer this time.
Well that's about it for today. Hopefully I'll have a lot of good developments to report next P-Day. Have a great week!
-Elder Oswald
Here's some assorted pictures from this past week. Enjoy!
Picture 1: Myself (right), my "son" Elder Bright (middle), and my "grandson" Elder Schroeder. Taken at Zone Conference.
Picture 2: I had dinner with a former mission President (President Wilson) who lives in my area, who was president of the California Bakersfield Mission up until this past July. He was Elder Ken Fry's (a
good friend of mine from Michigan, and a lot of you who get my emails know him too) mission president, and he said he was at least a little bit acquainted with President and Sister Center, my mission president up until July. He also knows my current mission president, President Smith. Small world.
Pictures 3&4: We did some service a little ways up Cedar Canyon, and I got these pictures.
