Two Months and First Baptism

March 23, 2015

Hey everybody! Hope it's been a good week!
So, I have now been out just over 2 months (the 2 month marker was Saturday). That's crazy!
My investigators are still doing well, though we are starting to run out of stuff to do. One was just baptized, two of them have baptismal dates and have pretty much finished all the lessons (we just stop by to check on them and teach them stuff to strengthen what we've already taught), one has finished the lessons and is just waiting for an interview with one of the mission presidency, and then a Seventy (he is a former FLDS so he needs to be interviewed by those people). Luckily it looks like we have some referrals that are going to give us several new people to teach, so that is good.
I had my first baptism on Saturday! Amanda got baptized and I got to baptize her (Elder Falconbury was going to do it but he was sick)! It was really cool, and she had a lot of support, which is really good! So I guess that was a fun way to spend my two month mission anniversary: baptizing someone! We have two more coming up, one this week, and another in April, but they are having other people perform the baptism, so it won't be myself or Elder Falconbury. But what matters is that they have decided to be baptized and that is awesome.
I got to speak in church again. I basically spoke about the importance of missionary work, and about how it is important everywhere, even in Utah. What the talk boiled down to was "The "mission field anywhere there is work", "Every member a missionary", and "If you love Him, feed His sheep". It went pretty well, but it could have gone better. I've figured out how to make it better though, and my next speaking assignment is this upcoming Sunday. I actually concluded with a scripture. That's the first time I've ever done that, and I think it's pretty cool. It is Matthew 28: 19-20. It felt like a good way to end the talk, with the words of Christ. I encourage you to look that scripture up if you're not already familiar with it. I really like that one.
Well, that's about all for today. I'm beyond tired, but I'm still loving it (being a missionary, not so much the bit about being tired). Hope you all have a great week!
-Elder Oswald
