First Week

January 27, 2015

Hi everybody! The MTC has been great so far! I love my district. Everyone is different and interesting and we've all became really good friends. There's Elder Hornbeck from Washington, Elder Thornley from Utah, Elder Rimer from Idaho, Elder Miller from Missouri, Elder Wells from Virginia, Elder Prior from South Africa, Elder Martell from New Zealand, and myself (from Michigan in case anyone was wondering, haha). With the exception of the first three we're all going to St. George. The other's are going to Dallas. My companion for the MTC is Elder Rimer. I also made some friends in the other district in our zone. Elder Griffin and I especially hit it off. Sorry, I know those names mean nothing to you. If I can figure out how, I'll try and send some pictures.

The MTC is a lot of work, but super fun. Really, my only complaint is that 6:30 AM is still freaking early! I've been able to get up just fine, and I'm getting used to it, but no matter how you cut it, at the end of the day (or beginning of the day, haha see what I did there?), that is just a really uncomfortable time to wake up. But anyway, the classes at the MTC have been awesome. We've done a bunch of practice teaching investigators. That is hard! The MTC pays people to come play the part of investigators. Most of them are actually members, but a few are not. Anyway, I think they are being deliberately as difficult as possible! But it is still cool. On Sunday, we watched perhaps the best talk ever, by Elder Bednar. It was like a supernova in my head! Unfortunately, it is only shown in the MTC, so only missionaries get to see it.

Sorry this was so short this time. I'll try to write more next week. Remember to write letters, or use dearelder.com. The more I can respond to personal letters via mail, the more time I have to write the main email. Also, I just like getting physical mail. "Talk" to you guys next Tuesday!

Farewell Sunday--a bunch of men and boys and one girl all wore bow ties in honor of Taylor.

Leaving Michigan

With time to kill before the MTC, Uncle Todd took Taylor up Logan Canyon and did a January photo shoot.

Family at the Provo temple just before heading to the MTC.
