20 Lessons in 3 Days, Friday Epic Fails, and General Conference Makes Everything Better

October 5, 2015

Hi everyone!

This has been another great week! We picked up another 6 investigators, and taught a ton of lessons! We're still pretty bored in the afternoon, but we are starting to get a few regular appointments in the afternoon. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were ridiculously productive. We taught 20 lessons in just those three days! And that was even with a couple appointments canceling. Thursday went about as perfect as it could go. We were looking at getting somewhere around 30 or more lessons by the end of the week! But then Friday happened. Every single appointment we had canceled! And we had no success finding on Friday either. I guess with all the really good days, and Thursday working out so well, it had to happen eventually. We got a few more appointments in during the weekend, so that was nice, but man! Friday was just rough. Almost humorously so. By the time we got to the last appointment, and then having them have to cancel, it was almost funny! It was just one of those ridiculous "of course!" or "what are the odds?!" sort of moments. But overall it was a fantastic week, and this one isn't looking too bad either.

General Conference was on Saturday and Sunday! It was great. I love seeing our modern day Apostles and the Prophet speak! It was an awesome spiritual boost. Also, an investigator family that we're teaching watched the Sunday Morning Session with us at a ward mission leader's house! They really seemed to enjoy it. It's good that they had that head-start on getting a testimony of the Prophet and Apostles. That's really important.

I really enjoyed the Sunday Morning Session! The songs the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sung were all some of my favorites. I loved President Monson's talk! It was super good, about being a light to the world. He's getting really old. He seemed really out of breath by the end of his talk, and he was leaning pretty heavily on the podium. I hope he feels better. We've recently lost three Apostles, I don't want to lose President Monson just yet. But anyway, what he said in that session, and the Priesthood session was really good.

Between sessions on Sunday, our ward mission leader took us up a canyon a little ways, and then up a mountain that overlooks Cedar City. That was fun, and really pretty. The fall colors are starting to
materialize in the canyon. That was really fun. Then we got back before the last session of  conference. I'll send some pictures later.

I really enjoyed Conference. I love listening to the words of the prophets. It is so good to know that we have people who we can look to in this crazy world to help get us through it. I know that President Monson is a prophet of God. And even when he is gone, Heavenly Father won't leave us alone, and we will have another prophet (the senior member of the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles). I have a testimony that the 3 new Apostles we got this Conference, are called of God. I'm so thankful for President Monson, and prophets and Apostles, past and present. By following them, we will be closer to Christ, and we'll be able to successfully navigate the insanity of life on Earth.

It's just been a great week!

Have a great week everyone!

-Elder Oswald
